Tino Costa: “Guido Rodríguez is a complete footballer: with leadership, character and quality”
The former Valencia CF player speaks on l’Informatiu on VCF Media Radio about the signing of his compatriot by the Valencian side
Former Valencia CF footballer Tino Costa (2010-2013) was the guest on l’Informatiu on VCF Media Radio to talk about the signing of Guido Rodríguez by Valencia CF.
Guido Rodríguez's arrival at Valencia CF
“There are many of us Argentinians who were privileged to be able to enjoy this jersey. I hope everything goes in the best possible way for him. He is a very experienced player. He won four titles with the national team and already knows LALIGA. He is a player with a lot of character, who can help Valencia CF a lot, especially in difficult moments. A player who has the trust and respect of his teammates and the coach will always give his best version. He has more than enough quality to play at Valencia CF. With Argentina, he used to drop back to help in the build-up, but he can also break up the opposition’s play. He is a complete player.”
Argentinians at the Club
“We grew up watching many Argentinians at Valencia CF. Aimar was one of the standard-bearers, together with Kempes.”
Atmosphere at Mestalla
“We all know River Plate, Boca Juniors… where the level of demand and pressure is very high, and that’s something Argentinians already bring with us from ‘the cradle’. From our development, we are taught to compete and fight.”
Lucas Beltrán
“You can see a big improvement in him. Now, with minutes, consecutive matches… the pass he played the other day was incredible. Both he and Guido can help Valencia CF a lot. Football has evolved so much that it’s not just about scoring goals. Beltrán is not the classic number 9 who will score every game, but he is a player who never stops pressing, who drops deep to leave the opposition centre-backs without a reference, who moves to the side to deliver a pass like the one he gave the other day to Hugo Duro. The work rate he shows throughout every match is admirable and people are starting to realise the quality of player he is.”
